This type of insurance may provide some financial protection from the rising costs of long-term care. Coverage for care in non-institutional settings, such as assisted living, adult day care, and in-home care, is also available.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Long-Term Care Insurance is available to you, your spouse, your parents and your spouse&#8217;s parents. Anyone covered by the plan must live in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Enrollment<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You may apply for coverage at any time. You will be subject to medical underwriting. Some illnesses or pre-existing conditions may make you ineligible for coverage. However, once the policy is issued, coverage will not be limited or exclude any pre-existing conditions or illnesses. The <a href=\"http:\/\/oci.wi.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI)<\/a> publishes a free <a href=\"http:\/\/oci.wi.gov\/pub_list\/pi-047.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guide to Long-Term Care (PI-047)<\/a> to help you evaluate your needs and rights. If you are interested in a long-term care insurance policy, refer to the information in the Insurance Carriers section below.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Premiums<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Premiums are determined by age, gender and individual health at the time of your application. You pay the full premium for this insurance; there is no employer contribution. Premium payments can be made by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Automatic transfer from bank account<\/li>\n<li>Direct billing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Under federal law, long-term care premiums may not be taken on a pre-tax basis.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Insurance Carriers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Mutual of Omaha offers long-term care insurance.
